Owned by the Leigh-Jones family since 1945, English's has established itself as one of the most famous seafood restaurants in the UK .
English's prides itself on the fact that all soups and sauces are made on the premises from the freshest and most natural ingredients - from our own mayonnaise to our freshly-prepared lobster bisque.
Famous oysters, locally caught seafood such as Lobster, Dover Sole, Plaice, Crab and Scallops feature on our A la Carte Menu along with our sumptuous Hot or Cold Seafood Platters which include a wide array of seafood and shellfish with hot garlic butter and home made tartar sauce which provides a feast for two. We also offer meat and vegetarian dishes.
Always available to you is our 2-Course Menu @ £14.95, which offers a great choice of freshly prepared starters and main courses. This menu is changed on a regular basis and features local produce and seasonal ingredients.
THE CHEF
Peter Bohannon, Head Chef at English's, offers his guests a blend of traditional and modern recipes across his menu. Having grown up and worked in his fathers fishing business, Peter has an extensive knowledge enabling him to bring the best of the sea to our guests.
The provenance & quality of our ingredients is paramount and Peter prides himself on the fact – where possible – locally sourced seafood and fish is used. In order to protect the long-term prosperity of these species', we actively source produce from accredited farmers. Sustainability of the fruits of the sea is extremely important and by supporting such producers we feel we put a premium product on your plate today as well as tomorrow.
