English’s of Brighton is one of the oldest and most well known restaurants in the country with a rich and fascinating history and is located at the entrance to the world famous ‘Lanes’ in the oldest part of Brighton.
The restaurant spans what were originally 3 fisherman’s cottages which date back over 400 years. Seafood has been served on this site for over 150 years. English’s has been owned by the Leigh-Jones family since 1945.
Guests have included Charlie Chaplin, Dame Judy Dench, Tony Blair, Charlton Heston, Lawrence Olivier and Vivien Leigh and more recently, Ewan McGregor, Jeremy Irons, Franz Ferdinand, Tony Blair, Jack Dee, Paul Merton, Hayley Mills, Twiggy and Joan Collins
