Autumn at English’s

Autumn marks the transition from summer to winter when the temperature cools considerably, so it’s the perfect time to book your cosy spot inside at English’s and try some of our warming, nourishing dishes from our new Autumn menus.

Yuri, our Head Chef, has been busy creating some sumptuous new dishes to complement our existing customer favourites, and we’ve picked out a few that play starring roles below…

A La Carte

We’ve gone for three of our customers’ favourite show stoppers:

Seafood Pie, smoked haddock, salmon, scallop, prawn, mussels, clams, mornay sauce, potato, peas, dill; Seabass, Monkfish & Plaice tranches, tiger prawns, mussels, squid, clams, tomato, garlic croutons, parsley and, last but by no means least, our Hot (or cold) Platter with scallops, tiger prawns, clams & mussels marinières, whole seabass, plaice & monkfish, tempura oysters, tartare sauce, garlic butter, lemon.

Tasting Menu

The new Tasting Menu features several small and satisfying, sharing sized dishes, perfect for a couple or a small group to taste and compare! Star turns include:

Tiger prawn thermidor; Sea bass, gnocchi, sun-dried tomato, chimichurri; Beef rump steak, crispy dauphinoise potato, nduja mayonnaise.

Set Menu

New dishes on the Set Menu include Gloucestershire old spot pork “cotoletta”, sauté potatoes, wilted spinach, peppercorn sauce; or how about the ever popular, fish of the day “en papillote”, caperberries, sun-dried tomato puree, crispy dauphinoise potato, beurre blanc? Round off your meal with a taste bud explosion; caramelized lemon tart, plum carpaccio, raspberries, almonds, and you’re sure to go home with a smile on your face! The Set Menu continues to provide convenience, quality and value, at just £24.50 for two courses and £29.50 for three.

In addition to these new menus, we’ve refreshed our kids’ menu, the A La Carte menu now also appears in Chinese and there have been some notable new additions to our extensive wine menu. We welcome back after a short break our super smooth Sensum Laxas Sparkling Albariño as well as two perhaps unfamiliar White Burgundies: Maranges Blanc “Au Chêne” 2018/9, Domaine Fiona Leroy and St Romain Blanc 2019, Domaine Alain Gras.

We value and encourage customer feedback on our menus, so please let us know how we’re doing!

The English’s Team.
