English’s of Brighton Chef Off 2019
We are delighted to announce that the 3rd English’s Chef Off competition will take place on the terrace at English’s on May 9th at 2pm. The Chef Off is a fabulous day and celebration of the best junior chefs at some of the finest independent restaurants from across Brighton & Hove. English’s will provide the usual fine hospitality spread on the day on a packed terrace in what will be, fingers crossed, the usual May sunshine!
This year’s event will feature some of the most exciting young chefs who will be competing to become Brighton & Hove’s Best Emerging Chef for 2019, including:
Michael Notman-White – Silo
Jan Tlusty – Wolfsmouth at Paradiso
Oliver Geering – Cin Cin
Lizzie Scarlett May – La Choza
Hayley Pople – The Set
Isobel Humbey – The Salt Room
Ciaran Steer – Market
Last year’s winner was Tristan Conway-Grim from 3rd Avenue. Tristan is no longer at 3rd Avenue but is still a chef and working for a friend’s business presently before going on tours and doing a few festival stages in the UK over the summer.
For this year’s event there will be large LED screens at the front of the stage so the crowd can see the chef’s handiwork and there will also be an opportunity to snap the food before it goes through to be judged by Michael Bremner, 64 Degrees Steve Edwards etch. Masterchef Professionals Winner and our very own, Yuri Magni.
The winner will receive a £250 kitchen ware voucher from Kensington’s, who will once again be providing the stage, many thanks to them. The winner will also receive a magnum of champagne and all other contestants will receive a bottle of champagne, kindly supplied by event sponsors Laurent-Perrier. Our friends and suppliers at Bibendum and Spy Valley will be supplying the wine for the event whilst some of the food is provided with generosity from BNFS another valued supplier to English’s for many years.
We will also be holding a competition on Facebook to win tickets in the very near future, so look out for that and we’ll be posting live from the event on the day on social media if you’re unfortunate enough to miss out!
