Enjoy the new oyster season at English’s

On 1st September we’ll be saying goodbye to our Duchy of Cornwall oysters, and welcoming in a new oyster season, and a new supplier. Next week we’ll be serving oysters from The Loch Ryan Oyster Fishery Company. Dating back to 1701, the Wallace family were granted a Royal Charter of the Loch Ryan oyster bed by King William III, and the family still live on the shores of the Loch today.

New oyster season

We’ll also be serving two varieties from Richard and Heather Haward, who grow oysters in the shallow creeks leading from the River Blackwater, to the west of the Mersea Island, in Essex. You might remember our visit last year to see the Haward family, meeting Bram Haward, who is the 8th generation of the family to farm oysters. You can read about our visit here.

Join us at our marble-topped oyster bar for a first taste of this new season of oysters, and watch as we shuck them before your eyes. The new season also brings a new cooked oyster menu, so come and enjoy it for yourself. To book a seat at our oyster bar call 01273 327980 or use our online booking calendar.
