Warming dishes for winter

This winter, let our hearty food warm you from the inside, with delicious new menu’s courtesy of the wonderful English’s kitchen team.

As ever, seasonal, local produce is the star of the show and we look forward to welcoming you to English’s to sample our latest creations.

Below are a few highlights from our 2023 Winter Menu to whet your appetite.
 

Starters

3x raw rock oysters, mignonette, tabasco, lemon or ponzu, spring onion, wasabi sriracha. We know our oysters here at English’s! Always a delicacy!

Oysters

Gravlax salmon tartare, cucumber ketchup, smoked kohlrabi slaw, toasted almonds, dill. The smoky, peppery kohlrabi slaw is the perfect accent to the salmon.

Panacotta

Sussex blue cheese pannacotta, port wine pickled walnuts, rocket leaves, honey. Beautifully light with a delicate blue cheese flavour.

Mains

1\2 Poussin, chimichurri or peppercorn sauce, mixed salad leaves or chunky chips. A real crowd pleaser with your choice of sauce and side.

200g Tuna steak ( £6 supplement ) chimichurri or peppercorn sauce, one side of your choice

Mussels “marinières” or “pepata” with skinny fries. An absolute classic that is often hard to beat!

Mussles

Lasagna terrine, spinach pasta, roasted cherry tomatoes, scamorza and ricotta bechamel. Our vegetarian main is rich and hearty and really packs a punch.

Vegie

Sussex ale battered haddock loin, chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce. When in Rome! And sometimes just what you need when it’s cold and wet outside…

Dessert

Lastly, a seasonal dessert to round off your dining. Tartlet, white chocolate & pistachio ganache, blood orange curd, rose pearls. Flavours of chocolate, nut and citrus and topped with delicate rose pearls. An absolute show stopper! You’ll be needing extra spoons…
